Swimming Day 1 Week 1

Finally. I made it to the pool. I have a 12 week training program that will get me ready for a 750m swim. Unfortunately, I only have 8 weeks to train. Fortunately, I only need to do a 500m swim! I think the 8 weeks will be just fine.

Today's swim session was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. 500m including warm up and cool down (100m each). 4x25m catchup, 4x25m kick, 4x25m fist. The whole thing took me about 20 minutes. I guess that would be the equivalent of walking about a mile. Not bad, but lots and lots of room for improvement!

I also ran 1.5mi after my swim. 13:29. I'll work on getting that down to 12. My goal is the 5K in sub 27 minutes.

Tomorrow, 4-5mi at Lake Pflugerville!

Pflugerville Bike Tour

First day out on the road bike. Not nearly as bad as riding on the trainer (thankfully!) The weather was warm, but on our bikes, it wasn't all that bad. We ended up riding about 19 miles before taking it back to the house. Not bad too shabby for day 1 (but not too fast either *_*)
Just a few miles into our ride, we take a photo break at the Cele Store. (Featured in Texas Chainsaw Massacre I, II & III, Secondhand Lions and A Perfect World)
We need to make a visit on the next Live Music Night!
A few miles later, Tommy & Steph inspect the corn growth in a Pflugerville field. Growing strong!

Day 3

Day 3 was a toughie. Really considered not going. But Crossfit sounded like so much fun, I just had to go check it out!
It was definitely worth going. Brannon had us huffing and puffing with med balls, over head squats, sprints, lunges, prison pushups and the list goes on. Short and sweet workout. Not so many pics from Day 3 since Coach Pete was too excited and joined in on the workout. =D

Day 2

Back out on the battlefield. Unlike day 1 where we worked on keeping our heart rate up for an extended amount of time, Tues we worked out with Corporate Fit and focused on core and abs.

That ball-y thing I was balancing on (bottom right)? Yeah... super super hard. I kept falling off. And no pictures to show for it... but I finally learned how to use the ab roller! 2 days later... it really hurts to laugh. I think that means I did it right!

2nd Annual Spartan Work-Out-A-Ton

The guy who runs our Spartanette bootcamp has a dear connection to March of Dimes. His daughter Kendall was born a preemie, weighing 4 lbs at birth. She is now almost 2 years old and is a active little beauty! Every year since she was born, Pete organizes a big fund raiser using his personal training connections to benefit March of Dimes.
Being pregnant last year, I wasn't able to participate. But this year, it's on! 7 days of bootcamp, each day a different camp. We have company in town this weekend so I can't make all 7, but let's see how far I do get!

300 Test

Ever since becoming a Mommy, my life has been pretty consumed by Mia. As you can tell from my blogging. However, Mark has made it a point to make sure he is available at least twice a week for me to go to bootcamp (and also randomly for me to jog with Stoli). When I first started bootcamp just over a month ago, we did a 300 test so that we could gauge our improvements. When we did this test in January, my time was just over 25 minutes. Yesterday, we did the exact same test again. I completed it in just over 18 minutes this time. Yes, in one month, I shaved 7 minutes off my time! Even more amazing to me... the first time I did the test, I came home and almost passed out from dizziness. Yesterday, I jogged home after the test. I've come a long ways.

Yesterday was Mia's 4 Month birthday and I was officially at my pre-pregnancy weight. (What I weighed in at the first time I went to the doctor and the weight we used to measure my weight gain. So I guess, technically, I was a few weeks pregnant) We are so very excited to have hit that milestone.

But I still have a ways to go. I'll feel accomplished when I'm back at my pre-pregnancy fitness level. For me, that means running a sub 1 hour 10K and 50 regular push ups. The reason I've identified these 2 goals is because one encourages cardiovascular endurance while the other works on my strength training.

To help with my end goal, I'm shooting to complete my first triathlon some time this year. I was aiming for May, but the bike I want is on back order. It's slated to come in mid-March, but it might be later. Anyways, I just have to put this goal in writing so that I am not so tempted to back off of it. Hold myself responsible. Because by nature, I'm a pretty lazy person.

So who's in for a triathlon? Someone? Anyone?
