Baby Names

Many people have asked Mary and I if we find it difficult to not know the gender of Baby Neubauer, when all we have to do is ask the doctor and they can tell us? To be honest, this really hasn’t been that difficult, luckily for us both of us were onboard with letting this be a surprise. If only one of us had wanted for it to be a surprise, it would have been way way more difficult. Since both of us wanted it to be a surprise, it has been pretty easy to not ask the doctor. We recognize that this has driven our families crazy as, specifically the grandparents, really REALLY want to know the gender. At this point, most of us truly think that the baby is going to be a boy, some people (like Jenni) think it is going to be a boy, but they are saying they think it is going to be a girl. Either way, we will find out in the next few days, and this little secret will soon be revealed.

Additionally, our families have constantly asked us if we have settled on a name for a boy or a name for a girl. For the last 6 months Mary and I have constantly said that we are working on it, and that we are down to only a few names. Let be honest, our families know how Mary and I operate, we had a list of possible names ready prior to getting pregnant, it didn’t take us long to get down to only a few names, and effectively choose a name for a boy and for a girl. Before anybody gets excited, let me tell you, I am not going to reveal the names that we have come up with. I will however provide a very large hint as to one of the names. If anybody can guess the name based off the hint, we will certainly tell you.

Additionally, I wanted to go over some of the names that did not make the cut that have been suggested by various family and friends.

Suggestions for boy that were not taken

John Wayne Neubauer – from Grandpa, he said it was a good, strong name

Suggestions for girl that were not taken

Gertrude Maggie Neubauer – From Grandpa, his Grandmother was named Gertrude and he has always liked the name Maggie

Chianti – From Jenni – I am afraid that if we chose this name we would be condemning our daughter to a career path that involves a stripper pole

Merlot – From Cade – see above

Lucky for us, Mary and I were able to agree on a name relatively easily, and it really only took us a few weeks. The name will be revealed at the time the baby arrives.

We wanted to have something in the name that was somewhat unique. Many of you know that Mary’s middle name is Thien Ha. Thien is where her Dad was born, Hanoi is where her Mom was born. Thien Ha was a very pretty name that could be made from their birth cities, and roughly translates to Heavenly River. Mary and I thought that naming the baby after the birth cities was a pretty cool approach, so we seriously considered doing this ourself.

I was born in Marlton NJ

Mary was born in Pasedena TX

Names like Marlton and Pasedena are pretty tough to turn into baby names, however here is what we came up with

If it is a girl, it would be Marldena

If it is a boy, it would be Paston

However, the name we came up with is not one of these 2 names.

This is the one, lone, only, single hint that we will give about the babies name before Baby Neubauer is here.

In our name search, Mary and I were able to come up with a name that was comprised of a lot of our heritage. We found one single name that has Vietnamese, Hebrew and Hungarian roots. I am calling this combination Vietbrewgarian (sounds like a type of beer) Additionally, this name has ties to my favorite toy growing up, the Transformers.

That is the only hint, if you can guess it, we will certainly tell you that you are correct.
