I Scream. You Scream. We all SCREAM...

... IT'S TOO DAMN HOT!!!

Even for an ice cream festival. It's too hot in Austin to be outdoors. I don't know why we seem to forget this. But every 2-3 years, we make this mistake. Something sounds like so much fun. And we're tired of hiding out in our airconditioned home all summer.

About 3 years ago, we decided to run the Keep Austin Weird 5K. 5K... how bad can it be, right? WRONG. 105 degrees in August and the race starts at 4pm. "Race" is a liberal term. It's more like a crawl. And you should get an award just for making it to the end. And do you know what got us to sign up for it then? The stops. Amy's Icecream at the first stop. Bacon at the next. Beer at another. I think there was brisket along the way. But it was so friggin hot. And there were so many people. When we got to the stops, they were either out of the bizarre item or we were just too hot and wanted water. It took us about 1.5 hours to finish since Stoli wanted to stop at every kiddie pool and take a break. For about 10 minutes.

This year, it was the Austin Icecream festival. I don't know why it sounded so good. There was a $5 cover, we went inside the park, it was so hot and dusty.

We waited in line to BUY icecream. Almost passed out while we tried to eat it before it melted. And then left.

We could have gone to the ice cream parlor for much less and more enjoyable experience. Stoli & Diesel knew it was a bad idea right from the start. They crawled under the ticketing table where we paid our cover and laid down. We had to coax them out from under there. That should have been our sign. Maybe that's why they say dogs are smarter.
